About Fort Portal Fort Portal town is located in the far west of Uganda, East Africa. This has in the past been a hot spot for rebel groups such as the A.D.F, but in recent years relative peace has been enjoyed throughout Fort Portal. The region is near the Rwenzori mountain range, which peaks at 16,800ft above sea level, whereas the town itself sits at just around 5,000ft above sea level, which makes for a very comfortable, yet tropical climate. Spiritually Fort Portal town is quite dark. Witchcraft, cults and drug use continue to be a widespread problem, as well as prostitution, teen pregnancy, and various kinds of STD's. These problems however are only outward manifestations of a deeper problem, the problem of sinful hearts. Only God can change a heart, and our desire is that through the teaching of Gods word, and one on one discipleship hearts would be changed one at a time.
Our Vision The vision of CCFP is to bring glory to the Lord Jesus Christ, through praise and worship. To encourage and strengthen the body of Christ though the teaching of Gods word, and fellowship. To equip the saints in Fort Portal for the work of the ministry in bringing others into a life changing relationship with Christ. Our ultimate desire is to grow in love for Christ, for the brethren, and for the lost.
| What We Believe Calvary Chapel has been formed as a fellowship of believers in the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Our supreme desire is to know Christ and to be conformed into His image by the power of the Holy Spirit. We are not a denominational church, nor are we opposed to denominations as such, only their overemphasis of the doctrinal differences that have led to the division of the Body of Christ.

About Calvary Chapel Calvary Chapel Fort Portal is part of the Calvary Chapel movement started by Pastor Chuck Smith of CC Costa Mesa. CC Costa Mesa is a non-denominational evangelical Christian church that began with twenty-five people in Costa Mesa, California in 1965 by Pastor Chuck Smith. Pastor Chuck Smith was a key minister to the youth in what is called the Jesus movement of the 1960s. As he reached out to the youth of the counter-culture – the hippies, drug users, and those rebelling against cold traditions, many accepted the Gospel of Jesus Christ. God gave the increase and thousands gave their lives to Christ. Today, Calvary Chapel of Costa Mesa is listed among the world’s twenty largest churches with more than thirty-five thousand calling it their home church. From this first Calvary Chapel many men were raised up who went out to plant new Calvary Chapel churches. These in turn also raised up new pastors and church planters so that today there are over one thousand five hundred Calvary Chapels around the United States and the world.
A Short History of CCFP Calvary Chapel Fort Portal began as an outreach ministry of Gold Country Calvary Chapel in Northern California, under the covering of Far Reaching Ministries. In March 2003 Doug Calhoon and his wife Destiny moved to Uganda with the intention of beginning a Bible teaching church in western Uganda. After working for a year and a half in Calvary Chapel Kampala, the doors opened for them to move to Fort Portal, and in only a few months they were able to find a suitable place to rent and hold church services. Rather than attempt to build a large church quickly, the desire and vision has always been to build a strong church that would in turn reach out to the surrounding communities. The feeling at CCFP is one of brotherly love and excitement for God's word. The desire continues to be the same; teach the people verse by verse through the Bible, and see what God does. Though new programs have come, it has truly been a blessing to see the Lord build His house in the way He desires. “Unless the LORD builds the house, They labor in vain who build it;” Ps 127:1
